Couple told to remove TARDIS from their driveway
A Florida couple have been served a violation letter by their homeowner's association, and now have 2 days to remove their TV-show inspired time machine, from their driveway in Parrish.

Leann Moder and her husband Davis, consider themselves sci-fi super-fans of the long running BBC show, "Doctor Who" so much so that they own their own TARDIS (or Time and Relative Dimension in Space). But the homeowner's association took notice, telling them they had 15 days to remove the spacecraft.
"It has been brought to the attention of the Association that you have a blue call box that needs to be removed," said the violation letter. "Just struck me as a funny, formal letter about a silly blue box," says Leann Moder. They were such big fans of the show that the blue box all started as part of the couple's marriage ceremony, 2 years ago.
The Moder's had a "Doctor Who" themed wedding, with the TARDIS as their altar, and this year they decided to use it again as part of their Halloween decorations. While the Moder's say they are happy to comply with their HOA, they still have big plans on the horizon for their currently empty TARDIS. "We're working on the bigger inside technologies," they say.

Man wearing 'I have drugs' T-shirt arrested for alleged possession of drugs
An unemployed 50-year-old Pennsylvania native living in Spring Hill, Balmer, Florida, entered a Kmart on Monday night wearing a black T-shirt that asked in large white letters: “Who needs drugs?”
Beneath that, the shirt said in smaller white lettering: “No, seriously, I have drugs.”
According to a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office report, Balmer was waiting in a checkout line at the store when a deputy entered. When Balmer saw the deputy, he attempted to hand a plastic bag containing marijuana and methamphetamines to the person standing behind him, a sheriff’s report said.

When the person declined to receive the bag, Balmer walked to another cash register and placed it on the ground, the sheriff’s office said. Store workers told investigators where Balmer left the bag, and Balmer, who was released from the Land O’ Lakes Jail on Sunday after posting bail on a contempt of court charge, was arrested after paying for his items, the report said.
Balmer, who has been arrested in Pasco several times since 2006, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. In 2002, he was sentenced to over a year of state prison time on charges of burglary and trafficking in stolen property, state corrections records show. Balmer was back in the Land O’ Lakes Jail on Tuesday with bail set at $2,150.

Homeless woman accused of engaging in sexual activity with Good Samaritan’s dog
A homeless woman is facing charges after allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a dog following an act of kindness by a Good Samaritan.
According to a criminal complaint, the incident happened at a home in South Oakland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Dec. 14.
The homeless woman, referred to as Jane Doe in the complaint, began a conversation with a woman inside a nearby store. She explained that she was homeless, four months pregnant and had nowhere warm to sleep. The patron extended an invitation to Jane Doe to come back to her house for a warm meal.
When they arrived at the home, Jane Doe took a shower and was given a clean set of clothes by the homeowner. At around 3am the homeowner came downstairs looking for her pit bull and observed Jane Doe engaging in sexual activity with the dog. At that time, the homeowner demanded Jane Doe leave the home.
According to the complaint, Jane Doe became upset and threw a five-pound dumbbell through the glass storm door. In addition, she told police that she also broke some flower pots and garden lights because she was mad. Jane Doe was arrested and is facing a list of charges including sexual intercourse with an animal, criminal mischief and defiant trespass.

Turkish official suspended after being carried by farmers to avoid getting his shoes dirty in snow
A municipal inspector has been suspended after photos emerged of him being carried by farmers to avoid getting his shoes dirty in the snow.
Nedim Zurnaci, head of the rural services department in the eastern Manisa province, was on a visit to assess the damage done by heavy snowfall in the area.
But Mr Zurnaci's footwear was not up to the task, and two more appropriately clad local men were pictured carrying him over the snow-covered ground to keep his feet dry.
Photos of the incident were published widely in the Turkish media, and it wasn't long before local authorities became involved. Mayor Cengiz Ergun said the behaviour "did not comply with the municipality's attitude of service, citizen relations and values", and announced Mr Zurnaci had been suspended while an investigation was carried out,

Woman had miraculous escape as truck crashed through office wall
CCTV footage caught the moment a woman makes a miraculous escape as an out-of-control truck smashes into her office.
The video shows the vehicle bursting through the walls of the real estate agent's office in the Brazilian city of Toledo, narrowly missing a female employee.
The woman rises from her desk as the impact occurs and the force of the vehicle pushes her across the room as the wall crumbles.
YouTube video.
The driver and the 16 employees in the office sustained only minor injuries. The vehicle reportedly crashed into the building after colliding with another vehicle nearby.

Deadly brown snake emerging from the sea caused alarm to swimmers
Swimmers at a north coast beach in New South Wales, Australia, were forced to flee the water on Monday when a brown snake unexpectedly emerged from the surf at One Mile Beach at Forster.
Onlookers were expecting a shark when lifeguards blew warning whistles, but instead the 1.5-metre snake made its way to the shore from between the flags at the beach at Forster.
Cape Hawke Surf Lifesaving Club president Paul Scott said it was unusual for a brown snake to be at the beach. "It's odd to see a snake which is a land-dwelling creature at the beach," he said. "You see the odd sea snake in the water, but a brown snake is quite unusual. You see snakes around the beach but not in the water."
While beachgoers may have been shocked by the snake, it did not cause any harm, Mr Scott added. "No lives were lost," he said. "No lives were in danger." Mr Scott also said he was impressed that the snake knew where to swim. "It was doing the right thing and swimming between the flags," he said.
The snake remained on the shore for a while before heading to some shade near the lifeguard trailer, and then to nearby bush at the southern end of the beach. It later headed back towards the ocean. Brown snakes are considered one of the world's most venomous snakes and are often found in sand dunes along the NSW coast.

Employment tribunal ruled serial urinator must be given job back as he ‘wasn’t the only one’
A technician in Brisbane, Australia, sacked for repeatedly urinating behind a shed has got his job back after a ruling that his co-workers were also using shipping containers as outdoor urinals.
The stench of urine was so bad at Hitec Welding in Pinkenba that several litres of disinfectant was repeatedly spread to overpower it, and the area was later concreted.
Boss Jozef Lewandowski also installed a porta-loo and told his workers they must use it or make the 10 minute walk to the 11 plumbed toilets on site.
Gregorio Garcia was sacked for “misconduct” on May 7. He was told it was because he had failed to stop urinating behind the main workshop despite a written warning to stop. Fair Work Commission deputy president Ingrid Asbury found Mr Garcia wasn’t the only one responsible for urinating in the work area and ruled Mr Garcia should be reinstated and paid $16,900 in compensation and superannuation. In her decision, she found that the Hitec bosses decided Mr Garcia was the “culprit” without sufficient evidence. The only witness was one staffer who saw Mr Garcia “adjusting his clothing” while leaving the area on one occasion.
“I am satisfied that Mr Garcia was not the only employee who engaged in this practice,” Deputy President Asbury found. “I am satisfied that Mr Garcia’s dismissal was unfair on the basis that it was harsh, unjust and unreasonable,” she stated. She found Mr Garcia was not properly warned about his behaviour and it was questionable whether Hitec gave him a written warning. She stopped short of accusing Hitec of “fabricating” a copy of the written warning allegedly posted to Mr Garcia, saying it was “strange” that it was sent by mail when it would have been simpler to give it to him at work.
Mr Lewandowski told the Commission hearing that he caught Mr Garcia relieving himself on May 5 and when he confronted him Mr Garcia told him he would “piss where he wanted to piss”. But Deputy President Asbury rejected Mr Lewandowski’s evidence, saying it was “improbable” that Mr Lewandowski would put up with an insult from a “vulnerable” foreign worker and “beggars belief” that he would wait two days to sack him. Mr Garcia was working in Australia on a 457 visa, sponsored by Hitec for four years. It was a path that was set to lead to an application for permanent residency.

Dismay over theft of tiny trees from planters
A councillor has hit out after thieves stole trees from decorative flower pots in Bromley Cross, Bolton, Greater Manchester.
Around 20 conifers, standing no more than a foot tall, have gone missing from pots put around the village to the dismay of the volunteers who planted them.

Cllr Alan Wilkinson said he noticed the thefts earlier this week, with the trees only planted four weeks ago. He said: “I think it is just disgusting that someone has stolen them. I don’t think it is vandalism. All of the other plants are there, there’s no soil on the floor.
“I think someone has just uprooted them, put them in carrier bags and taken them to make a hedge somewhere. It is straightforward theft. They are not very expensive, they would only be a couple of pounds each, and it is disgusting when someone comes along to pinch them.” Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
