Relatives told to remove flowers from graves

Grieving relatives slammed a “heartless” council which has banned them from putting flowers on their loved ones’ graves.

A total of 14 families got letters ordering them to remove all flowers, trees, shrubs, vases, statues and other decorations.

And they have been warned that contractors will be drafted in to shift the items if they fail to do as they are told by the end of the month.

Calne Town Council in Wiltshire plans to grass over the graves — to make them tidier and cheaper to maintain — and says they can only have a headstone.
