The pictures should be fine, the film's fairly tightly rolled on a spool and it wouldn't effect digital. I note they did save one of the cameras before the photographer.
Where I live, film isn't used already for several years. So I guess pehaps he could try to dry his memorycards and his equipment very gently and carefully and just maybe he can salvage some of it...!
