The player-manager of non-league Dorchester Town was sent-off for rugby tackling a streaker. Ashley Vickers was given his marching orders following the bizarre incident away to Havant and Waterlooville in Monday’s Conference South clash. The pitch invader, sporting a wig and Borat-style mankini, jogs around the pitch 70 minutes into the match with the score at 1-1.
With stewards and officials failing to apprehend the streaker and players watching in amazement, Vickers decides enough is enough and takes action – charging at the invader and hauling him to the ground. The Borat wannabe is then carried off by stewards with Havant’s Ian Simpemba throwing the wig at the invader.

Vickers, 38, puts his hands up to apologise before the referee hands him the defender his second booking of the night – ensuring one of football’s weirdest early baths. Havant and Waterloovilee were so shocked at the decision that their chairman offered to take one of their players off to even the numbers up.
Vickors said: “I’m dumbfounded and speechless. A guy ran on to the pitch without any of the stewards getting near him and I thought I was doing them a favour. My only thought was to get hold him so we could get on with the game. I managed to grab him and bring him to the ground and the funny thing was the stewards actually thanked me for it. But the ref decided to send me off and it beggars belief.”
