Pandas take refuge in newly built ice world

Pandas in China's southern Guangzhou city zoo are keeping cool this summer in a newly opened ice park. Known for their fondness of cooler weather, the pandas at the Xiangjiang Safari Park romped and rolled in ice and artificial snow in a newly constructed panda habitat. A worker at the park said the snow and ice will help keep the pandas happy during the hot summer months.

"It is hot in Guangzhou and the pandas here become irritable because of the temperature. This environment with its low temperature will make the pandas feel more comfortable and behave more gently." Special artificial ice and snow-making machines are being operated in the park to maintain the temperature.
