Fawn go shopping at grocery store

A Publix in Suwanee had a couple of uninvited guests this week: A pair of fawn that wandered into the supermarket and created a ruckus among shoppers and employees before store workers captured them.

James Chronicle was standing in the pharmacy section of the store at 1000 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday when he saw the front doors open and two young deer dart in. “They bolted through the store,” Chronicle said. “I heard kids screaming and I thought I better catch those deer.”

I got to the back of the store by the freezer section and they ran past me, and at that point I thought I better film these deer.” Chronicle, founder of a Suwanee-based non-profit called the Georgia Animal Protection Society, whipped out his cell phone and started filming.

One animal ran into a back room, while the other jumped over the sushi case into the seafood section. Eventually, employees were able to corral the deer. Chronicle’s video shows store workers picking up the animals and carrying them out a back door. They were turned loose behind the store. No one was hurt, though the seafood department had to be sanitized.

I didn't know that the plural of fawn was fawn.
