Mayor cancelled council meeting so he could officiate at giraffe wedding

Mayor Dragan Palma  cancelled a council meeting in Jagodina, Serbia, so he could officiate at the wedding of two giraffes at the local zoo.

Lonely young buck Jovance, aged five, was the zoo's only giraffe until his new bride Ema, nine, was transferred to Tigar Zoo on loan.



"Boring meetings can wait. It was wonderful to see such a happy couple who seem very much in love.

"I wish all my customers were as happy as that," said Mayor Palma.
