Flying around the world with some mates in your own private jet plane on a world rock-and-roll tour has to rate as one of the most spectacular.
John Otway is planning just such an experience for 2006.
John Otway and his Big Band invite you to join them for the once in a lifetime chance to travel all the way around the world on a real World Concert Tour.
John, who subtitled his autobiography Rock And Roll's Greatest Failure, will set off on his "Ot-Air" Airbus A340 to play some of the world's greatest venues.
His travelling audience will each pay £4,000 - or £7,000 in business class - to fly with him to New York, Las Vegas, Tahiti, Sydney, Shanghai and Dubai.
Otway has already filled nearly half the seats on the jet and is confident of a full flight.
He and his fans will kick off the tour at the famous Cavern in Liverpool before leaving John Lennon airport to fly to JFK on October 28.
In another homage to the Beatles he will also sail to Hamburg, where the fab four spent several months, before the tour starts in order to do some practice.
The fares paid by fans will also cover their hotels, escorted travel, gig tickets and a rock and roll party in Ning Bo, China, where Otway will be the first rock act to perform.
It costs around £1 million to hire the plane which comes complete with a dedicated crew of "Ot-Air" stewardesses.
On the trip Otway and the other four members of his Big Band also plan to attempt a series of world records.
First up is a bid to claim the longest guitar solo by playing as the plane crosses the international date line.
I've met John Otway a few times and whilst he really is a lovely bloke, he truly is as mad as bat shit.
