The singer and activist is putting together a plan for The Peace Channel, which could be launched next year.
He will develop the idea with his production company Ten Alps and a decision on whether to launch the service will be taken in the autumn.
The project is being funded by Point of Peace, which supports the work of Nobel Peace Laureates. Geldof has been nominated for the prize several times.
