Police probe missing shuttlecock

A policeman has been "given advice" after a mother of four small children was investigated over the loss of a neighbour's shuttlecock.

Teenage neighbours playing badminton in their garden in Soham, Cambridgeshire, lost the shuttlecock over the fence.

When they went to retrieve it Rachel Palmer said it was not there but later an officer came to search her home.

Mrs Palmer said: "I'm a bit disgusted really, as there's so much crime going on and vandalism on the estate, to have a policeman come round about a shuttlecock."

"He said he was investigating another incident and it had been mentioned that I wasn't returning a shuttlecock."

"He asked to come in and search for it and was desperately serious. I was gobsmacked and thought Jeremy Beadle was going to jump out from somewhere."
