The 105mph biker who gave two-finger salutes to speed cameras

Roaring past speed cameras on his powerful BMW, biker Philip Coffey would raise two fingers in the air in an act of insolent defiance.

Coffey, a bus driver who loathed the cameras, knew his picture was taken time and time again -at speeds of up to 105mph.

But with his face obscured by his helmet and no number plate on the front of his bike, he thought he would get away with it.

However, he hadn't reckoned on the determination of police, who made extensive checks with BMW and the national registration database.

They revealed the existence of only three such bikes in his home county of Bedfordshire.

As a result, the 45-year-old found himself in Luton Crown Court this week facing ten charges of dangerous driving. He was banned from driving for a year, fined £900 with £600 costs.
