Irish council banning 10 breeds of dog

Ten breeds of dogs, including Alsatians and Staffordshire Bull Terriers, are being banned from council estates in Dublin.

The city council said the moved follows 10 reported attacks on people since the start of the year. Children were the victims of three attacks.

The council said it has "a duty of care to all its tenants ensure that they live in a safe environment".

Banned breeds and crosses:

Staffordshire Bull Terrier
English Pit Bull Terrier
Bull Mastiff
Doberman Pinscher
German Shepherd (Alsatian)
Rhodesian Ridgeback
Rottweiler
Japanese Akita
Japanese Tosa
