Investigators said they received several tips after a video was released of a man dressed as a woman, putting perfumes and clothing in his purse at the TJ Maxx on Touchstone Drive Thursday.
Hansel Ortiz, 28, was already in the Orange County Jail on prostitution charges. Police then added new charges, including armed robbery.
Officers said he threatened them with a knife when they confronted him.
