A fake wake organised by Donald Warren for his 80th birthday had to be cancelled ... because he died for real the day before.
Widower Donald, of Verwood, Dorset, had even hired a coffin to lie propped up in to watch "mourners".
But he died from a fatal heart attack.
His family were too upset to comment but lifelong pal Mike Sharman, 78, said: "Most of us think the arranging of the party brought on the attack."
