A piece of scalp found last week in an east Pasco neighbourhood does not belong to a human.
Testing completed at the state crime lab shows the scalp, which Pasco police said appeared to be human, belonged to a long-hair cow, Capt. Jim Raymond said.
"It was really long hair for a cow", he said, noting it was about 4 inches long.
The piece of scalp was "fairly big," about 6-by-10 inches, and "literally looks like a scalp with hair attached," Raymond said.
The scalp was found a week ago in the 600 block of South Elm Avenue. A dog apparently brought it home and was playing with it in the yard.
Officers spent about five hours going door-to-door and talking to neighbours, asking about possible missing persons and searching the area for a body.
