3-month-old foal rescued after falling into septic tank

A 3-month-old horse was rescued from a septic tank in Marion County on Tuesday.

Fire-rescue said the foal, named Shooter, was following his mother Reba after she escaped from a fence at the Stormy Acres Farm in Citra.

Rescue crews think at some point Reba crossed over a septic tank and her weight either broke or displaced the cover, causing Shooter to fall into three feet of foul water.

Fire crews were able to chip away some of the concrete lid, and rescue the horse using hoses and ropes.

Shooter is expected to be fine. He is just a little scratched up and dirty.
