Man fined £150 for throwing profiteroles at his wife

A biscuit factory worker has admitted assaulting his wife with profiteroles.

Darren Owen of Blackpool threw the dessert and a plastic bowl during an argument as Myra, 55, lay in bed on Saturday.

David Charnley, defending, told the town's magistrates: "My client says that when he got home from work that night she was - in his words - sozzled."

Owen, 38, was fined £150 and told to pay £60 court costs and the £15 victims' surcharge.
