Cat rescued after spending three days on power pole

A lucky cat has eight lives left after spending three days trapped on high-voltage power lines near Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Negro the cat spent three days and three nights clinging to the 40-foot high utility pole.

Help finally came on Sunday when a cherry picker was raised to aid in his rescue.

Negro's owner and several neighbours waited below with a blanket to catch the cat.

After a few pokes, the cat fell from the pole, landed in the blanket, and then ran all the way home.

The feline is now getting some much needed food, water and tender loving care.
