Ransom call follows pig abduction

A shopkeeper has appealed for the safe return of a fibreglass pig stolen from outside his store in the Borders.

The life-size model was taken at the weekend from a newsagents at High Buckholmside in Galashiels.

Shop owner Ryan Kirk subsequently received a phone call demanding a £250 ransom payment before it would be returned.

The pig has stood outside the store for about two years in order to advertise its bacon rolls.
