A man burgled a retired woman's home when he was high on a mixture of methadone, sleeping tablets and alcohol.
Andrew Allen, 27, of St Leonards Road, Marton, admitted stealing £51 of property in a burglary at a house on Bispham Road.
He was refused bail and committed in custody by Blackpool magistrates for sentence by a judge at Preston Crown Court on March 9.
Dana Gledhill, prosecuting, said neighbours saw Allen going into a conservatory at the back of the house and called police around 11pm on Tuesday. The house owner was out at the time.
Steven Townley, defending, said his client was on a methadone programme. He had been drinking because it was his girlfriend's birthday and the combination of drugs and alcohol did not mix.
Mr Townley added: "This caused him to behave in a bizarre manner. He stole a dustpan and brush, a cat basket, a trowel and lawn feeder, a basket with tools and a gardening glove. They were all items he had no use for."
