London named dirtiest city

London is Europe's dirtiest and most expensive city and also has the worst cuisine, according to a poll of travellers. The UK capital was also considered to have the worst-dressed locals in a survey of 2,376 European travellers. In addition, London was reckoned to have the most tourist traps, but also the best free attractions, easily the best public parks and the best nightlife.

It was the second year running that London had been voted the dirtiest European city by the TripAdvisor company. The UK capital took the unwanted accolade by a huge margin, with 36 per cent reckoning London was the dirtiest – well ahead of Paris in second place with 9 per cent.

As many as 50 per cent of those polled rated London best for public parks, with Paris a distant second with just 7 per cent. One traveller writing a review on the TripAdvisor website said: "I have travelled quite a lot and there are NO parks in the world like the ones in London, especially St James's Park."

The cleanest city was considered to be Copenhagen, while the bargain city was Prague, the friendliest was Dublin and the most boring was Brussels. Paris had the best-dressed locals and the best cuisine, but was easily the least friendly.
