A car worker has scooped a $128million,(£80million), lottery jackpot after mistakenly being given the wrong ticket.
Rob Anderson had asked for three individual lottery tickets so he could give them as Christmas presents to friends.
But a Kentucky shop worker printed out the numbers on one ticket and Anderson had to ask for another three.
Luckily he retained the first ticket - and discovered days later he had hit the jackpot. The father-of-two had stopped off at a petrol station to buy three individual $1 lottery tickets that he wanted to give away as stocking fillers.
‘The clerk ran the $3 Quick Pick but he put it all on one ticket, and I was like, doggone it, I needed three separate tickets,’ Anderson said. The clerk asked him if he wanted to keep the ticket, which had three sets of random numbers or have it voided. ‘Yeah, I got a couple extra dollars,’ Anderson told the clerk and bought three more tickets to give as gifts.
He threw the botched ticket on a dresser in his bedroom and didn't check the numbers until after the draw. His wife, Tuesday, said they planned to buy a new car and visit Hawaii.
