A Tennessee man is behind bars after leading deputies on a high-speed chase while dragging a soda machine behind his car. According to investigators, Nicholas Nunley hooked a Coke machine to the back of his truck and took off from the Riceville Dollar General early Wednesday morning.
An eyewitness saw it all happen and called 911. Within minutes deputies were hot on Nunley's trail.
Deputies stayed with Nunley as he raced down the county roads, the Coke machine attached to his truck, sparks flying. Eventually the machine broke off of his truck, but Nunley kept on going.
"The gentleman told our officers that he was needing some money," said McMinn County Sheriff Steve Frisbie.
Sheriff Frisbie says there wasn't even much in the machine. "It's a machine that sits out front, I wouldn't think a whole lot of change is gonna be in there," said Sheriff Frisbie.
Deputies chased Nunley for nearly five miles before he pulled over and deputies were quick to block him in with their vehicles.
