Campbell introduced a Countryside Alliance guest on his breakfast show and said he was ‘pro ----ing’.
What he had meant to say was that Tim Bonner, the pressure group's head of media, was pro-hunting.
Campbell, who is also the presenter of the BBC's flagship programme for Holy Week, apologised profusely for the mistake.
However, listeners were less than impressed with the verbal slip-up and posted angry messages on internet chat rooms.
One post said: “I’ll never be able to hear his voice now without thinking of the C word. It’s disgusting at any time – but particularly at 8.45 in the morning. I can’t believe the BBC let him get away with it.”

Knowing Campbells views on hunting, the "slip up" was probably deliberate.
I guessing it was a pure accident. To have people up in arms is ludicrous. He's only human., People make mistakes.
Guess people can't make mistakes anymore...
"Spoonerisms" -- slips of the tongue in which initial consonant sounds of two words are swapped -- are very common; this one just had an unfortunate result. And once you've made a slip like that, I think you're likely to repeat it as you get nervous and "overthink" your speech. Poor guy; it's just a string of sounds, people!
