Passenger offers wife to taxi driver for sex to settle fare

A taxi driver was chased down the street by a man wielding a machete after he allegedly refused to accept sex with his wife as payment for a fare. The 38-year-old driver was left ‘shaking and being sick’ when the drunken man reacted furiously after he explained he couldn’t take him up on his offer.

‘The fare only came to £10.50,’ said the driver who did not want to be named. ‘But he wouldn’t pay and that’s when he said, “You come in house and have jiggy jiggy with wife”. ‘In ten years of driving, it’s the first time anyone has offered me sex with their wife instead of paying a fare.’

The driver, who had picked the couple up from outside a pub in Bolton on Friday, pressed his panic alarm and a number of other drivers from the same company arrived at the scene. It was at that point, the man, believed to be Polish, ran into his house and emerged with a 45cm (18in) machete.

‘He made a beeline for me and I was off like Steve Cram,’ said the driver who outran his would-be attacker and phoned the police. A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and bailed pending further inquiries.
