Pet detectives and Indian psychic join search for missing cat

A team of pet detectives is carrying out a three-day £1,000 search for a Lincolnshire cat that has been missing for seven months. Hundreds of people have been interviewed as a former police officer and three investigators conduct door-to-door inquiries in the village of Boothby Graffoe, about 15 miles south of Lincoln. The bizarre hunt – the biggest and most expensive ever carried out by rescue team Animal Search UK – has even seen investigators draft in a psychic from India to track down missing moggy Oliver.

The search – which has been ordered by owner Sue Machen – is being done on a scale that dwarfs many police investigations. Although the tabby cat has been missing since October 24, the 56-year-old nurse believes her pet could still be alive. She said: "It's very distressing. He has never been away before.



“Oliver may have wandered onto a road and somebody might have picked him up. I feel he must be somewhere. I can’t accept something has happened to him.” Senior investigator Tom Watkins admits using a psychic might sound strange, but he is willing to try anything if it works.

“We did a search in Birmingham recently where the owner contacted a psychic and was told the cat would be found where children play,” he said. “We then got a call from somebody, and when we searched a local garden the cat was found trapped in a Wendy house. It was remarkable. Coincidence or not, we will never know. But in US, investigators and the FBI use psychics, so it might be the up-and-coming thing.”
