Drivers urged to slow down, 'for fox sake'

Motorists in Oxfordshire used to roadsigns telling them to beware children and old folk are now being urged, in no uncertain terms, to watch out for foxes.

A sign imploring drivers "FOR FOX SAKE SLOW DOWN" has appeared on a rural road between Wheatley and Waterperry.

The sign was spotted, and photographed, by Jo Abbot, who works for the RAC Foundation.

She said: "I thought I was up to date with my road signs but this is a new one on me. It made me laugh, but perhaps there is a serious point to it. Despite its rural setting, this is a busy and fast bit of road.

"It seems someone has got fed up with speeding cars and decided to try and do something about it.

"To that extent the sign has worked. I certainly slowed down for a second glance."
