Living in rattlesnake country, I'm pretty used to doing things like avoiding grass taller than 2 inches or so, keeping an eye out for snakes sunning themselves on the driveway and other little precautions. However, "disturbing a rattlesnake" can be as little as "set your foot down about three feet away from it" if it's having a bad day.
