A chef knelt on his wife's throat and threatened to kill her because she had not bought any spaghetti, a court heard. Vedat Aygin, 30, now of Downham Road in Sheffield, appeared before magistrates for sentencing after the attack in Lincoln on January 20.
Prosecutor Becky Ritson said Aygin had asked his wife why there was no spaghetti in the house, then shouted: 'Don't I give you any housekeeping money?' "Aygin told his wife 'I'm going to make you live in the dark, like a dungeon and make your life hell'.
"He grabbed her hair and pushed her head into a wall so hard it left a 4cm dent. "He then knelt on her throat. She was gasping for breath and thought she was going to die."
In mitigation, Leo Pyle said his client had fully admitted the assault. Aygin was sentenced to a 24-month supervision order, told to complete an anti-domestic abuse course and ordered to pay £350 compensation plus £85 costs.
