Firefighters might be used to rescuing cats from trees, but one crew has been called in to help an animal that should have been at home in the branches. A bird of prey had to be freed by animal rescue crews after it became trapped 30ft up a tree in Dorset.
The Harris Hawk, called Storm, has a 4ft wing span and had become entangled by its tethers after escaping from his owner. Storm's owner called the fire service after not being able to reach the bird himself. Rescue crews from Poole plus an appliance from Sturminster Newton were called to Becket Close, Blandford, at about 4.20pm on Monday.
Group manager Phil Allen said: "Having escaped from its owner, Storm became trapped in the tree because its 8ft leash became wrapped around a branch at the outer edge of the tree. It quickly became apparent that anyone tempted to rescue the bird would have put themselves in extreme danger, not only because of the height but because of the thinness and unpredictable strength of the branches.
"Our technical rescue and animal rescue team were able to install a safe working system using ropes and harnesses which ensured the safety of the firefighter undertaking the rescue. Having ascended the tree, the firefighter was able to use a pole to unwrap the leash and Storm flew away." Mr Allen said Storm flew to a tree nearby but his owner told crews he was confident he would be able to coax the bird down once he got hungry.

I live in st.louis and on seven occasion I have known firemen to rescue a cat from a tree for a white perso, but on tuesday at 1:38 am I called the fire department to help my pregnant dogs who was having complications, because I had no car and did not know what to do; after they saw that I was black they did not help us and I was told to call my vet, but the vet office did not open unti 8:30 the next day and they left the scene needless to say I had gotten in touch with my son and four hours later we took her to the emergency room were my dogs puppy had sufficated to death it had stayed in the birth canal too long if the fireman would had helped her, her puppy would still be alive. so my comment is FUCK YOU
