A man survived a 70ft fall with barely a scratch when he swan-dived off a crane as a horrified rescuer inched towards him.
The troubled 30-year-old - identified by police in Novosibirsk, Russia, as Dmitry Georg - had climbed up the building site crane and kept police and firefighters at bay for more than an hour.
But as rescuers finally got within inches of snapping a safety rope on him, he stood up, held out his arms and leapt head first towards the ground. Amazed medics found him alive and barely hurt after he landed in a three feet deep pile of snow still there from the harsh Siberian winter.

"It was like watching a miracle. Apart from a few broken bones he was fine. He had been under the influence of drugs when he jumped but is recovering," said a paramedic.
