Missing cat's leg found on owner's doorstep

A cat owner was left distraught after finding his missing pet’s leg in a sandwich bag on his doorstep. Darren Stratfull’s eight-month-old cat, Rocky, had been missing for three weeks before the gruesome discovery at his home on Puffin Way, Aylesbury. “My partner Natalie found it in the morning,” he said.

“We didn’t realise what it was at first but when you looked closely you could see the bone sticking out the top. We were both quite distraught and shocked.” The family had been asking residents in the area if anyone had seen Rocky and had put out flyers after she went missing last month.

After finding the leg he called the police who told him to keep hold of it as evidence. “I am 90 per cent sure it is Rocky’s leg as it has the same coloured fur,” he said. “We have been racking our brains to think what might have happened. Whoever left the leg could have left a note or called us up, but just to leave the leg is very disturbing.

“She could have been run over, attacked by a fox, or killed by a dog. So it may have been a neighbour who wanted to let us know but didn’t want to come and tell us.” RSPCA inspector Martin Rivett said: “This is clearly a strange incident. We have no idea why someone would leave the cat leg on the doorstep, and we just hope that there is someone out there who can explain why this has happened.”

There's an audio interview with Mr Stratfull on this page.

Aren't they deliciously naive?

The more likely scenario, unfortunately, is that someone got tired of the cat tearing up their garden and decided to get rid of the problem... and then left a "message" for the cat's owners.
