Man slashed friend’s face for burning chicken dinner

A Naperville man remains in DuPage County Jail in Wheaton, after police said he slashed a friend’s face with a kitchen knife during an argument over a burned chicken dinner. Andre L. Poole, 22, faces trial on felony charges of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and resisting or obstructing a police officer, according to records on file in DuPage County Circuit Court. His bond has been set at $7,500.

Naperville police Sgt. Nick Liberio said Poole had the knife and two handguns in his possession at the time of his arrest. Police were called at about 10:56 p.m. on Tuesday to Poole’s fourth-floor unit in The Preserves at Cress Creek apartment complex at 777 Royal St. George Drive on Naperville’s northwest side.

They were responding to a report of a man “who had been slashed about the face,” according to a police news release. Liberio identified the slashing victim as a 20-year-old man from south suburban Harvey. Poole apparently became enraged after his friend “burned a chicken dinner on the stove,” Liberio said.

Poole allegedly grabbed a kitchen fillet knife and slashed the other man’s face in three places, including one cut below one of his eyes and another above the lip. Liberio said one of the slashes was “a deep cut.” A friend had taken the victim to Edward Hospital in Naperville before police arrived at the scene. The victim got treatment for what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

This guy is staying at the DuPage county jail ... about 1/2 mile from me. Nice, huh?

Well if you bring him a chicken dinner, make sure it's cooked right.

Jerry-

I'm near there too. Florida usually has a monopoly on crazy stories like this. Glad to see Illinois representing.
