Drunk man mistakes police station for casino

It turns out, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln police station doesn't offer blackjack games. It does, however, provide rides to detox.

A 21-year-old man from Oregon found that out the hard way when he wandered into the UNL police station after Saturday's football game thinking he was at a casino, Sgt. John Backer said.

But instead of striking it rich, all he won was a free trip to detox. The man showed up at the police station once, Backer said, and was turned away by front desk staff who informed him they didn't have any blackjack chips.

When he returned to UNLPD a few minutes later, officers went up to investigate. The man blew a .273 on a Breathalyzer test, and police decided to place him into protective custody. Backer said the Oregonian didn't commit any crimes, and wasn't arrested.
