A man who locked himself out of his house died on Friday when he became trapped beneath a window frame while trying to get back in. Windsor, Ontario police received a call at 11:55 a.m. about a man trapped at 338 Bruce Avenue.
The call came from a government building that overlooked the alleyway and rear of the house. When police arrived, Reeve Cuerrier, a 49-year-old hairdresser, was found dead, according to police spokeman Sgt. Brett Corey.
Corey said Cuerrier was locked out of his apartment. He tried climbing through a second-storey window adjacent to a porch in the backyard. Cuerrier was able to get his feet and torso through the window before it slammed shut on his chest. Cuerrier’s feet were dangling six inches from the ground, said Corey.
When police arrived Cuerrier’s head and shoulders were hanging outside. It is unknown how long he was lodged in the window before the call was made. Corey said he is waiting for a post mortem but at this stage the cause of death is misadventure. “I can’t recall seeing one of these in my career as long as I’ve been here and that’s 26 years,” said Corey.

The falling window sash must've killed him. His head and shoulders were outside. Passersby saw him. You'd think if he were merely trapped he would have been yelling for help.
