Mystery of 340 cannabis plants found dumped by side of road in Oldham

Thousands of pounds' worth of cannabis plants were found dumped in by the side of a road.

Around 340 plants, believed to be worth around £15,000, were discovered on a patch of wasteground in Chadderton, Oldham. Police were called to the area off Moston Road, near Greengate, at around 9.30am on Monday after a call from a member of the public who had spotted the plants.

Officers arrived to discover hundreds of large cannabis plants, still in their plant pots, dumped in a pile. All the plants were bagged up to be removed from the scene - barely fitting in the police Ford Fiesta car sent to collect them.

Officers are now carrying out inquiries in a bid to discover who dumped the plants - and why they were abandoned. No arrests have yet been made.

There's no way the pile of plants in the first photograph would fit in the car in the second photograph. Presumably that's overflow from another vehicle.
