School's ad featured embarrassing pubic typo

A one-letter error in an advertisement turned something seemingly harmless into something quite different.

'Are you interested in Pubic Charter Schools?' the ad in in Sunday and Monday's editions of The Tacoma News Tribune read while missing an 'L'.

"This was our mistake," said Jim Spady, a spokesperson for the Washington Charter School Resource Center, the organization who wrote the ad. Spady said his organization sent the text to the paper.

The News Tribune's marketing manager, Sue Piotrkowski, said the paper added graphics to the ad and returned it to the organization for final approval. No one noticed public was spelled pubic. "It's an honest error," said Piotrkowski.

  1. It's not very good advertising, is it? It just shows that they're careless.
