Ian Pollock used the stick’s handle to drag the £200 trampoline out of Asda in Cumnock, Ayrshire, as astonished customers watched. But the 35-year-old abandoned his booty a short distance away.

Last week at Ayr Sheriff Court, Pollock admitted stealing the trampoline and £40 worth of meat last August. He was sentenced to a community payback order and told to pay £40 compensation.
Asda said: “We take shoplifting very seriously. Our colleagues jumped into action to prevent any theft.”
