Odd smell alerted resident to burglar hiding behind fridge

An "odd" smell that assailed a resident as he returned home last  Monday evening led to the arrest of a burglary suspect.

Police in Sacramento, California, say as the resident got back home just after 7pm, he saw a door ajar that he had not left open. There was also a strange odour, he told officers.



The resident investigated and found a man, identified as 37-year-old Cisco Collins, hiding behind his refrigerator.

Collins ran off as police officers responded but was caught. Collins was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
