Missing dog 'Lady' returned home in chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce

A mysterious “Lord and Lady” turned up at midnight in a chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce to deliver a lost dog to an astounded owner. Pensioner Gregor MacAulay had given up hope of finding his aptly-named pet Lady, who was missing for three weeks prior to the reunion on Sunday.

The 76-year-old was in bed when the car pulled up outside his home at East Kinwhirrie near Kirriemuir, Angus, but was overjoyed when the jack-a-doodle sprang from the Roller. He was so shocked he forgot to get the name of the couple who found the eight-year-old dog at the roadside. “I’m delighted to get her back, but I’m a bit confused,” he said. “Everybody is saying how strange it is to bring a dog back at that time of night.
But the dog is fine, so that’s the main thing.”

Mr MacAulay said he was grateful to the couple for returning his pet and is keen to thank them. He had used website lostdogs-scotland.org.uk to appeal for information on Lady’s whereabouts. Linda Ess, who runs the website, said the mysterious pair had found the animal by the road. She had injuries to her face so they took her home until the owner could be traced.

Mrs Ess said: “Mr MacAulay was so excited to see Lady that he forgot to ask for the names of the couple when they turned up in their Rolls-Royce. He thinks they might have been a Lord and Lady from near Edzell near where they found the dog.” Mr MacAulay is hopeful he can contact the couple to show his gratitude and is appealing for the dog rescuers to get in touch.
