Plan to flush evidence during drugs bust went awry when set of electronic scales blocked toilet

A man's plan to dispose of what was believed to be methamphetamine came unstuck after he blocked the toilet while trying to flush a set of electronic scales.

Police arrested the 32-year-old man at a house in Hamilton, New Zealand, and have charged him with possession of methamphetamine for supply and breaching bail.

Hamilton City Tactical Coordinator, Senior Sergeant Freda Grace, said armed officers assisted their colleagues carry out a search of the Fairfield property.

"Our operation was also flushed with success when officers prevented the 32-year-old offender disposing of a large quantity of what is believed to be methamphetamine when he blocked a toilet with a pair of electronic scales." The man is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court.
