Police defend using two patrol cars and PCSO in convoy to move mobility scooter

Wiltshire Police have defended using patrol cars to escort a mobility scooter ridden by a police community support officer.

The buggy was being driven to a police station in Salisbury on Saturday night after a man was arrested for theft and assault.

Two patrol cars drove slowly along the road, with the mobility scooter between them.

A police spokesman said they needed to move the scooter to a safe location and this was the "quickest and safest" way.

Of course it would not have occurred to thick Plod to call a van instead of using two cars and a fat lump of PCSO uselessness. Or any number of other solutions – just crawl through busy roads inconveniencing all other road users.
