Sea lion pup rescued after taking to the road again

A wayward sea lion pup hung out on a freeway on-ramp in Sad Diego early on Wednesday for nearly an hour before being rescued, authorities said.

The pup was reported on the Mission Bay Drive onramp to southbound Interstate 5 at 6:07am., according to the California Highway Patrol.

At around 6:50am, animal control officers managed to wrangle the pup into a vehicle so it could be transported to SeaWorld San Diego to be evaluated, San Diego police said.

This wasn't the sea lion pup's first time being rescued. A unique shaving on her side indicated she's been rescued before. SeaWorld officials said she was rescued last March from the Silver Strand in Coronado. Then, she was also malnourished and dehydrated. After months of rehabilitation, she was released back into the ocean in May.
