The dangerous antics of drunk train travellers who have got into trouble at stations are being highlighted in a new safety campaign.
More than 1,600 people have been hurt in slips, trips and falls at the 17 stations run by Network Rail (NR) in the past year. Many of those incidents have occurred after bouts of evening drinking, with NR now urging travellers to take extra care.

A video showing some of the antics caught on their surveillance cameras features a kilt-wearing drunken reveller attempting to kick a pigeon on a platform, missing, then ending up on the track. It also shows a man leaning on a moving train before falling down a gap between the train and the platform. A third person is captured falling repeatedly down an upwardly moving escalator.
British Transport Police Deputy Chief Constable Paul Crowther said: "Somewhat inevitably, drinking alcohol can impair people's judgment and co-ordination. Encouraging passengers to be more aware of their surroundings, particularly when they have had a drink, and to be alert to the inherent dangers that exist in stations will, we hope, reduce avoidable slips and falls across the network."
