Nicola Day was branded "a fat tub of lard" and an "ugly little rat" by a worker at an online company following a disagreement over the delivery of her new sofa. In July, Ms Day bought the couches from Huddersfield-based Equinox Retail.
She complained about the service she received and the absence of the feet from the sofa. This appeared to antagonise a worker at the company who started to send her a series of text messages. One read: "You look like a fat tub of lard. You're just an address to me, nothing else. I personally hate ugly little rats."
No one one from Equinox Retail could be reached and their website also cannot currently be accessed. Ms Day said she responded in kind to the messages but West Yorkshire police has told both parties to desist. She added that the experience has been upsetting and cautioned others to be careful when making purchases online.
