Truck carrying fireworks exploded following massive road pile-up

A truck carrying 44,000 pounds of fireworks exploded during the massive pile-up in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, on Friday.



Snow, wind and poor visibility were blamed for the chain reaction of crashes on both sides of Interstate 94.

Lt. Rick Pazder says many vehicles were on fire, including at least two semi-trucks carrying fireworks and other hazardous materials.

A trucker from Ottawa, Canada, was killed and at least 23 people with injuries were taken to hospitals in Battle Creek and Kalamazoo.
