RSPCA officers said it was a mystery how the sheep got up there. A rope rescue team from the charity was sent to the scene to rescue the stricken animal.

Two inspectors abseiled down the cliff to reach the sheep, and put her in a bag the charity uses for rescues before lowering her to the ground. The sheep did not suffer any injuries in the incident.
Inspector Mike Pugh, one of the five-strong rescue team, said: “The sheep, a ewe, probably had not been there long. We had a bit of a struggle with her to get her in the bag we use to bring animals to safety but once caught the ewe was lowered down. The sheep was fine and uninjured - it was a successful rescue.”
