Parents angry after six-year-old son was asked to write 'what pisses you off' for his homework

A Lincoln family has been left "angry" and "shocked" after their six-year-old son's homework asked him to 'handwrite what pisses you off'. Parents Jay McCulley and Jade Dixon couldn't believe their eyes when their son, Mason, returned home from Bishop King Primary Schoolin Lincoln with a swear word on his exercise sheet.

The homework, which was designed to help children improve their handwriting skills, asked pupils to write 25 different phrases including their favourite number, favourite quote and their favourite city in the world. But task 22 on the list took a strange turn, by asking them to 'handwrite what pisses you off'. Mason was just one of an entire class of six year olds who were sent home with the inappropriate sheet. The school has admitted the homework is genuine and has apologised unreservedly to parents in a letter.

But Jay says it's not enough. The 30-year-old said: "I was devastated and shocked when I saw the word – I noticed it while he was reading through the sheet. My partner went absolutely mad. They have sent out a letter to parents apologising but I am not impressed." Mason returned home with the sheet last Thursday and was tasked with completing the the work by Monday. His mother, Jade Dixon, says her faith in the school has been shaken. The 28-year-old said: "I think it is disgusting and does not set the children a good example at all.

"I am angry knowing I have to leave my kids there for six hours – it makes you wonder what other mistakes they are making." In a letter sent out to parents, head teacher Mrs Rouse, admitted the school had failed to check the homework before it was sent out. She said: "It is with deep regret, that a piece of homework was given to the children of Oak class last Thursday in error. We acknowledge that this document was not appropriate to be given to the children and I apologise for any distress caused. We always endeavour to check all documents, however failed on this occasion. We hope you understand this was not intentional and accept our apology.

"Handwrite what makes you call others a 'poopy-head.'"

Well, I guess we all know what pisses her off.

The sheet was obviously written by an American. (check the spelling of "favorite") The term "pissed off" is pretty acceptable in America. I've even seen Oprah Winfrey use it on TV quite often. Just a case of a teacher too lazy to write their own worksheet and too lazy to check a downloaded one.
