Boy dangling upside down from bridge after truck overturned rescued

A boy was left hanging precariously out of a truck after it crashed on a bridge. The boy was dangling upside down from the side of the overturned vehicle after it crashed at Somech Junction on Route 79 in Israel.

Fire crews had to battle strong winds and rain to rescue the boy, believed to be 10-years-old. His father was also trapped inside the truck and was rescued. The boy was then treated by the ambulance service.

Fire Department spokesman Shalom Levi said:"We received a call about a road accident, a very complicated road accident in which a truck overturned on the road and ended up on a concrete beam with two people trapped inside.

"We managed to extract the father but the child was hanging between heaven and earth. There were many forces at the scene and two cranes were deployed, and after working in very stormy conditions and very strong rain, we managed to rescue the child and transfer him for treatment by the MDA [ambulance service]."
