Baby wombat enjoys some time at the beach

Derek the baby wombat was rescued after his mother was sadly killed by a passing car in Tasmania, Australia.

He was named after the man who found him and is now being looked after by Kate Mooney, known as the wombat lady of Flinders Island for her work taking care of orphaned and injured marsupials. This video shows Derek running happily on the beach while being filmed by photographer Sean Scott.

Australia--land of some of the most adorable critters anywhere, AND some really nasty poisonous animals.
